The Migration Advisory Committee(MAC) has completed its review of Tier 1 of the points-based system.

Earlier this year, the MAC was asked to consider whether the criteria for Tier 1 should be changed in 2010/11 to reflect changing economic circumstances. The MAC's report, published, says that Tier 1 is generally operating well, but also recommends some changes.

The UK Border Agency has revealed plans to change the way in which individuals qualify for British Citizenship in the future. All applicants will have to complete a points based assessment as part of their application, to prove their eligibility.

This is the latest chapter following a set of fundamental changes introduced by the British Government to shape UK Immigration law and polic.

The Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Bill has been considered in Parliament and has been approved. Within the Bill, the Government is planning to make changes to British nationality law.
