Work Permit Extensions

The work permit is granted for a set duration of time. However, if the employment is set to continue beyond that period, a work permit extension would normally be required. It is important to ensure that the correct application is applied for and supported correctly. If the work permit extension application is refused, then it could jeopardise the individual's leave to remain in the UK and could raise questions as to whether s/he is able to legal continue employment with the UK company for which the original work permit was issued, until the matter is resolved. Extending the work permit from within the UK is a two part process and does require the individual to submit the original passport once the work permit extension has been approved. For this purpose the Home Office strongly advise against any non-urgent travel. Our team of qualified and experienced OISC registered advisers are able to assist clients with urgent travel arrangements and are normally able to help individuals obtain their passports quicker than normal in urgent cases. If the work permit is for a different employer and/or a more senior post within the UK company, it may not be appropriate to apply for a work permit extension. Please refer to Changing your Employer. Alternatively, contact a member of the team and we will ensure that you receive full and correct advice. |
