Codes of Practice Released Under New Points Based System [Tier 2]
17 September 2008 The Codes of Practice have now been published today marking a significant point in the development of the Points Based System. These are very important documents which set the benchmarks for salaries in the Tier 2 category and levels of skilled jobs that will be allowed under the issue of Certificates of Sponsorship for migrant workers. Some salary bands may come as a surprise to many employers.

There is a continuous requirement for qualified professionals on an international scale. Whilst some engineering positions are still recognised by the Home Office as a shortage occupation, most positions are still subject to demonstrating that the UK employer has advertised for this vacancy prior to a work permit application being made.
The Home Office will expect to see evidence of the individual’s qualifications and professional experience to support the work permit application, together with relevant documentation from the UK employer. We will advise you on the most appropriate documents to support your application to best effect.
